She focuses on the<br \/>\nsearch and selection of journalist and social investment entrepreneurs. A<br \/>\nfew months before joining Ashoka in 2005, Stephanie returned from a year<br \/>\nin Benin, West Africa, where she used her Fulbright fellowship to conduct<br \/>\nanthropological field research on the implications of cultural tourism for<br \/>\na small ethnic group with unique traditional architecture. While there,<br \/>\nshe and a Beninese friend launched a tourism project to generate revenue<br \/>\nfor a local village. Previously, Stephanie taught outdoor education in New<br \/>\nMexico, Costa Rica, and Nova Scotia. Through work and study, she has<br \/>\npursued her passion for cultural immersion in communities around the<br \/>\nworld, from Ireland to India and Cameroon. Stephanie has a B.A. in<br \/>\nAnthropology from Middlebury College.<\/p>\n<p>She is interested in finding innovative projects and meeting entrepreneurs<br \/>\nwho will create the future of journalism.
