I am a consultant and web editor for several nonprofit/academic journalism
organizations. I current serve as webmaster for, among others, Religion
Newswriters Association and its foundation (http://www.rna.org) and
ReligionLink project (http://www.religionlink.org), and for the Center on
Religion & the Professions at the University of Missouri
(http://corp.missouri.edu/). The groups I serve are very interested in
expanding their web-based journalism communities.
I have operated my own consulting business since 2001; before that, I
spent 20 years as an editor at mainstream newspapers, including the L.A.
Daily News and the Dallas Morning News.
Education: MA Media Studies, The New School for Social Research
1) I’m looking forward especially to the Drupal sessions.
2)Many of my clients need to move to a CMS but design cost is an important
factor in their decision. I’m looking for ideas to offer the transition in
the most creative and least disruptive way.
3) I’d like to learn more about using visitor input on a headlines or news
aggregator site.
I teach an online class in the Fall of each year at The New School called
“The Future of a Journalism.” In this class we explore current issues in
the evolving news environment. I can share experiences with teaching
online, and talk about my students’ perceptions of the news industry.
