{"id":9,"date":"2008-10-30T19:03:34","date_gmt":"2008-10-30T19:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/journalismthatmatters.org\/philadelphia\/reboot-ncc\/"},"modified":"2019-10-02T04:38:15","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T04:38:15","slug":"reboot-ncc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/journalismthatmatters.org\/philadelphia\/reboot-ncc\/","title":{"rendered":"Reboot-ncc"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Special exhibit: Headed to the White House<\/h2>\n<p>In &#8220;Headed to the White House,&#8221; a unique exhibition created by the<br \/>\nNational Constitution Center, students, teachers, and families will have<br \/>\nthe opportunity to follow this extraordinary process from the primaries<br \/>\nthrough the presidential inauguration.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will be engaged in the sights, sounds, and excitement of<br \/>\npresidential elections from the moment they cross the gallery threshold.<br \/>\nImportant events from the 2008 campaign that took place at the Center &#8212;<br \/>\nincluding Barack Obama&#8217;s March 18 speech on race relations and John<br \/>\nMcCain&#8217;s Town Hall meeting on June 11 &#8212; are represented in a<br \/>\nspecial display only in Philadelphia. <\/p>\n<p>Once visitors enter the<br \/>\nexhibition, they are introduced to the electoral process with three<br \/>\naudio-visual zones highlighting the historic elections of 1840 (Martin<br \/>\nVan Buren vs. William H. Harrison), 1932 (Herbert Hoover vs. Franklin<br \/>\nDelano Roosevelt), and 2008, before walking through a large, graphic<br \/>\nimage of the White House and onto the campaign trail.<\/p>\n<h2>Kimmel Theater\/DeVos Hall Description<\/h2>\n<p>The exhibit experience will take you through important events in our<br \/>\nnation&#8217;s history and through unique, interactive exhibits, show you how<br \/>\nthe United States Constitution is as important today as it was 216 years<br \/>\nago.<\/p>\n<p>The tour begins with a 17 minute multimedia presentation of &#8220;Freedom<br \/>\nRising&#8221; featuring a live actor, film and video projection in the Kimmel<br \/>\nTheater. Here you will be oriented to the major themes of the<br \/>\nConstitution from 1787 to the present day.<\/p>\n<p>In the DeVos Hall&#8217;s American Experience, you will enjoy interactive<br \/>\nexhibits that show the significant role the Constitution has played<br \/>\nthroughout history.
