How do <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>we activate new forms of civic and public engagement?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We start by throwing out the \u201cexperts come and lecture\u201d conference model. No one is an expert in changing times. At JTM the medium is the message, and our \u201cunconferences,\u201d utilizing\u00a0<a title=\"About Open Space Technology\" href=\"http:\/\/openspaceworld.org\/cgi\/wiki.cgi?AboutOpenSpace\" target=\"_blank\">Open Space Technology<\/a>, ensure that new voices and new ideas are heard, and that inspiring opportunities and exponential networking occurs.<\/p>\n<p>Come engage Pacific NW journalists, civic voices,\u00a0<strong>community activists<\/strong>, broadcasters, educators, ethnic media, students, emergent voices, digital entrepreneurs and business people (see <a href=\"https:\/\/journalismthatmatters.org\/jtmpnw\/who-participated\/\">who\u2019s coming<\/a>) actively involved in defining our evolving Pacific NW news ecology.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/journalismthatmatters.org\/jtmpnw\/the-program\/\">Seattle program<\/a> &#8220;catalysts&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattlefoundation.org\/aboutus\/Pages\/NormanRice.aspx?bv=nposearch\">Norman Rice<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/westseattleblog.com\/blog\/?page_id=1246\">Tracy Record<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisjordan.com\/\">Chris Jordan<\/a> will be part of the conversation on developing new information sources, economic solutions and accountability models that work to create a revitalized journalism that matters in a society grounded in social networking and civic engagement models that effect dynamic change.<\/p>\n<p>Share your work and your organization\u2019s visions\/models of social, journalistic, and technological reform in person.
