She completed her Ph.D. in mass communications at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and holds a masters in journalism from the Medill School at Northwestern. Formerly she was a fashion and beauty writer, food and home writer for &quot;The Arizona Republic&quot; (Phoenix) and style correspondent for KPNX, a Gannett-owned NBC affiliate in Phoenix.
