Stoll teaches journalism at San Jose<br \/>\nState University, where he has also served as associate director of<br \/>\nGrade the News (http:\/\/www.gradethenews.org), a San Francisco Bay Area<br \/>\nmedia-watchdog project. <\/p>\n<p>With colleague John McManus he is the winner of<br \/>\ntwo recent journalism awards: the Professional Freedom and<br \/>\nResponsibility Award from the Association for Education in Journalism<br \/>\nand Mass Communication (2006) and a citation of excellence from the<br \/>\nMongerson Prize for Investigative Reporting on the Media from<br \/>\nNorthwestern University Journalism School (2006). <\/p>\n<p>Stoll is a regular<br \/>\ncontributor to SF Weekly on media issues. He previously worked as a<br \/>\nreporter at the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Hartford Courant, and as<br \/>\ncity editor, investigative reporter and editorial-page editor at the San<br \/>\nFrancisco Examiner.
