You can also ready the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newshare.com\/biblionews\/ala-webinar-chat.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">text of the live chat comments<\/a> from participants.<\/p>\n<p>The presenters (in speaking order) are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/marsha-iverson\/4\/715\/783\" target=\"_blank\">Marsha Iverson<\/a>, of the King County (Wash.) library system; <a href=\"http:\/\/comminfo.rutgers.edu\/directory\/kranich\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Nancy Kranich,<\/a> past ALA president and library-journalism lecturer and researcher Rutgers University; <a href=\"https:\/\/journalismthatmatters.org\/members\/mikefancher\/profile\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Fancher<\/a>, retired executive editor of the Seattle Times; and <a href=\"http:\/\/billdensmore.wordpress.com\/mini-bio\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Densmore,<\/a> Reynolds Journalism Institute researcher. Fancher and Densmore are both on the board of the non-profit <a title=\"JTM\" href=\"https:\/\/journalismthatmatters.org\" target=\"_blank\">Journalism That Matters<\/a>.\u00a0 Kranich is also founder and leader of ALA\u2019s just-forming \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/discuss.ala.org\/civicengagement\/\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Civic Life,&#8221;<\/a> supported by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/ala\/newspresscenter\/news\/pressreleases2010\/march2010\/alappi_ala1.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Kettering Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the webinar, Iverson sets the agenda for the challenge &#8212; identifying the common purposes of journalists and librarians. Kranich returns to British and early-American history to establish that libraries originated from some of the same desires to provide free civic information to which journalism aspires.
