Jen Gilomen is Director of Public Media Strategies at the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) in San Francisco, California, working to develop innovative national initiatives for public media production, distribution, education, and collaboration, and she is currently leading BAVC’s first foray into public access television operations. These initiatives include the development of a next generation Internet coalition, innovative community-based production, journalism, and storytelling programs. For two years, Jen managed BAVC’s Digital Storytelling Institute as producer and advisor, helping over twenty California-based nonprofits to increase their technical capacity, produce community stories, and harness media for social change. She has acted as a strategic, technical, and creative advisor for nearly one hundred independent producers and nonprofit organizations, managed youth and adult media programs, and developed interactive web sites for companies, nonprofits, and artists.

Jen is also an active independent producer who has produced nationally and internationally distributed films, including her recent documentary Deep Down http://deepdownfilm.org, which aired on the Emmy-award-winning PBS series Independent Lens, and the associated Virtual Mine game, which was prototyped at BAVC’s 2009 Producers Institute and is funded by ITVS and MacArthur Foundation.
