CALL SUMMARY
Attending: Peggy Holman, Martin Reynolds, Mark Jones, Michelle Ferrier
Location/date
Michelle has confirmed interest from Elon University to host the gathering. We can use the space, dorms, etc. She will look at possible dates (late May/early June or early August).
When Sybril returns from vacation, we hope she'll see what's possible at Belmont.
Other options are also welcome.
Invitation
Most of our discussion was about the invitation. Some key aspects:
* making it more of an activist call to action
* appealing to mainstream and entrepreneurial journalists who are interested in innovation -- creating something new is key. Want to also attract those working for innovation in the existing framework.

Location, Location, Location
Sybril Bennett and I have chatted about criteria for selection. We may be able to keep costs down by hosting the conference at a college/university where we might use dormitories as lodging (after the spring semester ends). A good j-school program would help as having access to computers and equipment to prepare the pitch ideas is critical. Primarily, the location has to have a good mix of content and technology people willing to experiment together.
The goal is to find a quiet, thinking and creative space -- not a destination -- where folks will be distracted by surrounding entertainment. A crucible of sorts.
I would love to host this at Elon University (full disclosure;-)
