Hello.

The reason that i signed up for this site is to communicate with others with the intention of advancing ideas while keeping both the drones and the choir at bay. For example, I hear what sounds like an airplane outside my office window; it could be an airplane, or it could be a drone. It's gone now. Forget it. Likewise, I asked a preacher one time if he ever Really felt like he was "preaching to the choir". It was an odd, but interesting moment, as we looked at each other, maybe thinking about how "Litmus test liberals" and "Fundamentalist reactionaries" are pretty much the same.

At least that's what I was thinking about at the time. The thing that I didn't like about listening to them was that it wasn't original music, and much too didactic.

So how's this for a contrarian question for a start:

Who, or What, Defines the "News Cycle"?

Yesterday, the hot question on the internet  was, "Should Harry Reid resign?" for making racially charged statements about Obama's lack of African-American dialect and "light skin color" during the election. Of course, when Cheney said "Fu*k You" within microphone range for general media consumption in the hallowed halls of Ccongress, there was no irate chest-pounding by Republican Family-Values Types calling for him to step down. And meanwhile, Democrats circle the wagons around Reid, including the President, who perhaps realizes the great futility of the multitude of brush fires being set by the opposition with more Oppostion than Substance at the moment of the disarray of their party's Bush-led power-vacuum.

Would you buy a vacuum cleaner whose manufacturer advertised that "It Really Sux"?

But here's what I'm getting at:

Aren't we supposed to be in the very-important-process-of "Connecting the Dots" about the Underwear Bomber?

Or is that issue "played out"?

It seems so sudden.

Ok, I get it:

"Connecting The Dots" (I hate that expression) is now about tracing a line to define the box that we will want to think outside of, when the Focus Group Convenes, but which we first, in preparation, must define "As A Box", so that we can put Harry Reid into it.

But alas; There's not enough room in the Box for both Harry Reid and the Underwear Bomber. So, since we are supposed to "Think Outside the Box", i.e., the box that we are in the process of constructing, always in preparation for the Focus Group Meeting about important Issues; The Box that must be conjured even provisionally, so that we have something to "Think Outside Of", the Underwear Bomber" is put Outside The Box so that we can focus on the Newest Most Important Issue:

Harry Reid.

So my question is: Who, or What defines the News Cycle?
