Buffet style, with plenty of opportunity for networking. Knives optional -- eat with one hand, hold your plate in the other, and keep circulating -- or settle at one of the tables.
6:30 - 7:30pm Three perspectives on How can the people and the press help each other?
- For the people: Norman Rice
- For the press: Tracy Record
- And a "shape-shifter", putting a twist on what's possible: Chris Jordan

7:30 - 9:30pm World Café conversation: What’s possible for our region when journalists and the public come together?
We'll cross-pollinate ideas among our diverse participants to build on the opening comments.
Outcome: Orientation to the northwest media landscape. Preliminary insights into journalism's role in civic engagement. The result: A foundation for richer conversations between journalists and the public.

Friday, January 8 -- Possibilities Day: Explore/design ideas/projects
- Purpose: To explore a wide range of possibilities at the intersection of journalism and civic engagement
- Organizing question: "What’s possible for our region when journalists and the public come together?"
- Structure: We'll use "open-space technology" to organize our activity. Breakout sessions are hosted by participants on the topics of their choice.

Outcomes: Topics of most interest explored in-depth. Individual and collective ideas about the role of journalism in our civic life beginning taking shape.

- Purpose: To provide space for taking action on initiatives which have life beyond this event.
